Oh man, what a horrible night I had.
I went to bed somewhat before 1 and I couldn't sleep at all. I have seen every hour and opened up my eyes too many times. I seriously stayed awake until 9 am which was the time I had to get up =.=
Did dream a few times, but that was barely any sleep obviously.
I got picked up in the morning, but when I explained I was tired and didn't sleep at all, the supervisor turned around and told me to sleep some more. And so I did. I slept for 3 hours and luckily felt better when I got back.
I did have to be awake as I had the violin lesson today!
but first I had to work on the magazine. I had to add in the sponsor names which needed a full page ad, a half page ad, a business card ad or name gets mentioned. And I had to retype a script.
I also needed to search for a sponsor logo and had to make the background transparant, but that didn't look too good.
When that all was done I got the violin lesson.
It started with explanations on what everything was and how to hold it..
I got to hold the bow and it's awkward at first, but later on I held it automatically that way.
Your thumb supports it and your pinky and index finger makes sure you hold it steady. The other two fingers just rest.
The part that goes on the violin is actually made of horse hair, so we cannot touch it. We can make it greasy by touching and you can't get rid of it.
Holding the violin is strange. It rests on your shoulder and your chin rests on the chin support.
I had to hold the violin at first without worrying about notes and just move the bow over it.
Sometimes the sound was quite squeeky, but it didn't sound too bad =P
As that went well I learned the song: Twinkle twinkle little star.
First the first few notes and that involved into closing one note and that has to happen with your index finger.
As that went well I could play the second part which added two other fingers and I had to hold the strings.
First, second and third finger.
My co-worker was actually complimenting me for starting out so well. It wasn't bad at all for a first lesson, especially in 10 minutes. Well, I enjoyed it and will for sure continue in lessons.
She also gave me advise on composing. When composing have the real instrument slightly louder than the synth instruments so it gives a more realistic orchestra feel! =) So I can apply this when I know how to play violin.
After the lesson I had to work on the magazine again. As the magazine had too many pages I had to move all the sponsors to earlier pages and had to make sure there were 20 in total. This meant I also had to change the page numbering. I did it wrong at first as I didn't count the background, but now it's right.
Both page numbers have to equal 21.

Awesome!! You get violin lessons!
ReplyDeleteI think it was very very good you stuck to your plan and went to Canada even after all that trouble! Really very cool!
Yeah! Well piano lessons take priority though xD
DeleteI´m glad too as it opened a lot of doors. I will leave Lethbridge this week, but I will keep my job. Will still do some work for the company when I´m home, but not as an intern anymore!
