Canada

This blog is about my trip to Canada from February till the end of July. The reason I have this blog is that my family/ friends and teachers can read what I have been up to.
I'll write about my preperations, flight, what I have learned at the internship company as well as any side trips.

Oops, started neglecting this one

Well I got my visa! and also booked a new flight which is scheduled for April 13th.
The return date will be August 24th from Calgary as I hope I can visit my cousin again!

I also got word from a possible roommate and the way it looks now it looks like they reserved the room for me, so I'm really happy I don't have to search anymore.
The downside is that I can possibly move in in May so I still need to rent a car, but hey! I got a room which is furnished. I will set up a meeting with them after I arrive in Canada.

So yeah, it's coming closer and I'm getting excited now as it looks like I won't be facing any problems now. I just have to read the guide to make sure I bring all needed information to the airport.

I also still have to work on my cancellation insurance, so I really really hope I can get some or all money back from the first flight. Who knows even the second.

Visa news!!

Yes! People on the forums have been mentioning their letter of introduction arrived. I thought all would take eight weeks total, not only 3! I'm in my second and last stage. I just got my CIC account so for me it's still waiting for a week (or 2) but still so many weeks earlier than I expected.
This way I'll leave at the end of March or start of April (30 March or 6 April) but it depends on my acceptation of the visa and the ticket prices. Can't wait! I don't have to work 6 days a week anymore if I can start right away. Only the problem is: How can I get to the internship in April?
I could hire a car for 20 days, but that will cost 600$.. hope there is an alternative.

Day 27: Flight back home

Well, I left at 10:15 in the morning. I packed the last few things before that, also held Eden Dawn and said goodbye to Evelien and Patrick Ryan. Then Peter drove me to the airport.
Itwas a 2 hour drive and the view wasn't fantastic because of the fog sadly, so I couldn't film much, but I had a good last drive; my cousin and I talked a lot.

When I arrived in Calgary I could go to check in immediately; I was quite early so there wasn't any row. It happened so fast, within 5 minutes I dropped off my suitcase and could go to my gate.
Peter walked me to the luggage check and we said goodbye.
I was on my own again and I headed towards my gate but first I had to take out my laptop out of my bag and put everything on a tray to scan. It took a while as I had a lot of stuff, but as usual everything was okay. I stopped at the foodcourt and had a teen burger at A&W. After that I stopped at the Tim Hortons to get my last French Vanilla, but as I was quite full I didn't even finish it.

As I had to wait for another two hours I decided to grab my laptop. My dad was online so I quickly   talked to my parents, but as my laptop battery died it wasn't very long.
The airplane was late so there was another delay of 20 minutes, but once I stepped in things went fast.

The flight was boring. I did watch a movie at the start: Ted.. but it didn't impress me much. I tried to sleep after the meal I had (pasta) but as usual that wasn't a success. I couldn't sleep... at all which frustrated me immensly. The women next to me slept the whole flight! Grr..
With 3 hours to go there was turbulence which scared me as I never experienced it like this before. I was afraid we would crash; the sound was also creepy around the airplane and the lights were out o.o

Luckily all went well (or else I wouldn't type this =P) and i'm home now. It was a long drive back home as I was tired, but being home was so quickly normal again. No matter how long you are away from home the moment you walk in it feels as if you didn't have the long flight or that you haven't been away for so long.

In a few weeks I'll go again! But this time four times as long as now.

Day 26: Last day

Yup last day. Sadly my day was different than I expected. I was tired from the moment I woke up and was wobbly on my feet for 8 hours. Still I went to Red deer to return some stuff and pick up stuff for my cousin. For lunch we ate at the food court at the mall and I had a teen burger.
When returning home we picked up a shower door but as that thing had to lay on Patrick Ryan's chair I had to sit in the back kind of underneath that thing xD It wasn't very comfortable, but it was necessary. At home I talked to my parents and afterwards we ate french fries with homemade satésauce. Now it's all about preparing for my flight tomorrow. Gotta pack my suitcase and just printed my boarding pass.

Day 25: Nice dinner

The day started as any day. Patrick Ryan woke me up and the morning started okay.
I caught up with some tv shows and talked a long time with my parents as Dropbox worked and we were spreading images and videos the whole time. I held Eden Dawn and she was so happy! She even smiled in front of the webcam.
In the evening we were planning on going to the humptys or smittys in Red Deer, but eventually the plans changed. Instead we went to the Leto in Lacombe, so that wasn't far off.
When I looked at the menu I didn't know what to choose. I was thinking of a hamburger at first, but my eyes also wandered to the chicken and the spaghetti.
Eventually the choice was between two dishes: Spaghetti and steak and the grilled chicken.
I went with the grilled chicken, but when I saw my cousin's dish (the spaghetti and steak) I wished I chose that one xD The meat sauce looked so good. But then again we already had spaghetti the day before. It was good, there weren't many fries but in the end I didn't need them. Everything together already made me full. We skipped desert as we would eat icecream at home. Oreo icecream to be precise. Something I had never had before.
Afterwards I tried editing my videos but focused a lot on the TV instead. At 11 pm I headed to bed.
